Ayers Rock & les Olgas

Vu que mon père était en Australie pour 15 jours, nous en avons profite pour nous diriger vers le Nord et visiter une région un peu plus typique de l'Australie

Arrives a Alice Spring, ville située en plein milieu du désert australien, nous avons loue un campervan et sommes partis en direction de l'Uluru (également connu sous le nom occidental d'Ayers Rock).

Beaucoup considerent cette etape comme inutile car l'Ayers Rock n'est rien d'autre qu'un gros caillou au milieu du desert selon eux. Ce site sacré pour les aborigènes, long de 3,6km et haut de 350metres est en fait reellement impressionnant une fois que l'on se trouve a ses pieds.

Nous avons profite d'une agréable journée pour faire le tour de ce gros rocher (4h, quand meme!) mais aussi pour en apprendre un peu plus sur la culture aborigene. Puis, nous avons pris la route des Olgas, des formations rocheuses, a une cinquantaine de kilomètres a l'Ouest de l'Uluru.

Uluru & the Olgas

As my father came to visit me for two weeks in Australia, we decided to leave Melbourne for a while and look for some adventures in the outback, in Australia's Northern Territories.

After flying from Melbourne to Alice Spring,which is located right in the middle of nowhere, we rented a camper-van and left in direction of Uluru (also known as Ayers Rock). Lots of people consider this tourist attraction is not worth being seen as it is just a huge rock. But, in reality this holy site for aboriginal people, which is 3,6km long and 350 meters high is really impressing as soon as we are next to it.

We enjoyed a really nice and sunny day, walking around the rock. We were both surprised of the changing colors of the rock, according to the sun position and the loop kept us amazed from the beginning until the end. The visit to Uluru was also a good excuse to learn more about aboriginal people and culture.

After walking for four hours around Uluru, we went then to see the Olgas which are located 50km west from Uluru. We went in the canyon and enjoyed a really nice sunset there.
